Safety Tips

PLEASE, ALWAYS REMEMBER TO WEAR A PROPER PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICE WHEN USING OUR BOAT PRODUCTS. ALWAYS CHECK WEATHER CONDITIONS, OBSERVE ALL COAST GUARD SMALL CRAFT WARNINGS, AND PROPERLY SUPERVISE CHILDREN USING BOAT PRODUCTS.

Things to remember and suggestions for paddling on the water

  • Never go out alone and let someone know where you are going and estimate times of location.
  • Never drink and paddle 
  • Bring with you an emergency/first aid kit 
  • Dress for the water, not the weather. Quick drying wear is helpful. Consider bright colors. 
  • Take a basic safety course, make sure you are comfortable getting in and out. Practice self-rescue and be confident in your ability to recover in case you capsize.
  • Know how to use your personal flotation device,whistle and helmet.
  • Check all water and weather conditions before heading out and continue to monitor throughout your trip.
  • Carry a cell phone or radio for emergency communication, research service areas to make sure service will be provided while planning your trip.
  • Check all equipment before each trip, make sure everything is in working condition and there are no signs of wear or tear.
  • Be aware of river water levels, tidal changes, and dangerous currents. Research your planned area before heading on the water. 
  • Follow  the manufacturer's recommendation for use and limitations of each product.
